Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best games of all time, not to mention one of the best RPGs of all time. It’s a fantastic experience, especially because of the text, the characters, and the fact that choices actually have different outcomes that matter. Larian has revealed the game’s rarest ending, and a Hack shows an impossible alternative to the rarest ending that has not been unlocked by any Baldur’s Gate 3 player.

Even though BG3 came out a year ago, its momentum hasn’t slowed down, as it recently won another award for best game. What’s more, it’s still one of the most exciting games of 2024 thanks to the planned release of Patch 7 in September, which will bring an official mod kit to PC and also offer players on PS5 and Xbox the ability to download mods.

We can’t wait for Patch 7 to arrive, but now even more of the game’s secrets have been revealed. Players are finding out something new about Baldur’s Gate 3 every day, and one YouTuber has found an impossible alternative for the game’s rarest ending.

Baldur’s Gate 3 hack shows alternative to the rarest ending

In honor of the game’s one-year anniversary, Larian released more player statistics for Baldur’s Gate 3. These revealed that the rarest ending in BG3 was only unlocked by 34 players. According to Larian, the rarest ending is as follows: “34 players playing as Lae’zel chose to commit suicide at the end of the game after Vlakkith rejected their ascension.”

YouTuber SlimX has shown how to unlock this rare ending. As Lae’zel, you must simply choose to follow Vlakkith’s wishes throughout the game until you reach the moment where you free Orpheus. At that moment, you must choose to free Orpheus and take on the form of a Mind Flayer yourself.

At the end, you are given the choice to kill Orpheus. If you choose to kill Orpheus, you are given the choice to ask for ascension, but Vlakkith does not grant your request. You can then kill yourself, leading to an epilogue with Withers.

Above you can see an overview of the game’s official rarest ending, however YouTuber SlimX has discovered an alternative that is impossible to unlock but exists in the game’s files.

This alternate is accomplished by not becoming a mind flayer and not killing Orpheus. The ending is the same, but Lae’zel is rejected by Vlakkith but keeps her true Githyanki form.

It’s impossible to unlock because leaving Orpheus alive skips the Vlakkith ascension option, while Orpheus as a Mind Flayer always commits suicide. You can watch SlimX’s video below to see the rarest ending and all the alternatives:
