Club talks over controversial midfielder to follow the arrival of De Ligt and Mazraoui

Manchester United are speeding up the transfer of a midfielder who has suffered TWO relegations from the Premier League and Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt double strike.

Manchester United are close to completing key signings number three and four. Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro were the first to arrive and the delay in completing a transfer for Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui was linked to the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, West Ham have agreed to sign Wan-Bissaka for £15 million and personal terms have been agreed. Wan-Bissaka has also passed a medical.

Therefore, both transfers are expected to be completed today. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that centre-back De Ligt will also sign his contract with Man Utd on Tuesday.

The trustworthy transfer guru told X on Tuesday morning: “Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui will sign their contracts with Manchester United later today. Plan confirmed.”

The one-two punch for Mazraoui and De Ligt could ultimately cost a total of €70 million/£59.7 million (including future add-ons).

However, Man Utd managed to negotiate favourable payment terms for De Ligt with Bayern. The €45 million they will pay as a guaranteed part of his €50 million transfer fee will be paid in instalments over a period of three years.

The transfers of Mazraoui and De Ligt will become official in a few hours and ManU will now focus on signing a new partner for Kobbie Mainoo in central midfield.

The Red Devils have put their interest in Manuel Ugarte on hold due to PSG’s high transfer fee of €60 million. This move could be reconsidered, but only if PSG lower their demands.

Man Utd in talks with Burnley over Sander Berge

Man Utd is currently reviewing alternative options and TEAMtalk understands Burnley’s Sander Berge has said yes to joining the club.

The 26-year-old is more than ready to return to the Premier League by signing with Man Utd. The sun Condition Burnley have set a price of 30 million pounds for the Norwegian international and will do everything to stick to that value.

The signing of Mountains would divide opinions at Old Trafford, not least because the midfielder has already suffered two relegations from the Premier League – Sheffield United (2020/21) and Burnley (2023/24).

However, few would claim that Berge was a reason for the relegation of these two clubs. On the contrary, the combative midfielder was one of the few bright spots for his respective clubs during these seasons.

In addition, Man United’s arch-rivals Liverpool have proven how fruitful the signing of relegated stars can be.

In fact, Georginio Wijnaldum and Andy Robertson were both brought to Anfield in the summer after being relegated to the Championship with Newcastle and Hull City respectively.

If you turn the clock back even further, Man Utd once signed a certain Roy Keane from relegated Nottingham Forest.

Man Utd seem ready to give Berge a chance after a fresh update from Sky Sports revealed: “United have held initial talks with Burnley about Berge.”

Berge was recently left out of Burnley’s squad for their opening Championship game against Luton Town on Monday night, which the Clarets won 4-1.

Manager Scott Parker was asked about Berge’s absence after the game. Parker stressed that the player was absent due to a minor thigh injury and not because of speculation about a move to Old Trafford.
