PlayStation Plus subscribers will soon be able to find out about the new games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium in August. Sony will officially announce the next wave of PS Plus Extra and Premium games at 4:30pm UK time on August 14th, and the games will be available to download and play less than a week later, on the morning of August 20th. Based on previous months, subscribers can expect around a dozen PS4 and PS5 PlayStation Plus Extra games, and another three or four retro/VR games in the Premium tier.
In the run-up to the big reveal, subscribers on Reddit tried to predict the next games.
In the monthly predictions thread, several people believe that Robocop Rogue City will be added to PS Plus Extra in August.
Developed by Teyon and published by Nacon, Robocop Rogue City is a surprisingly good first-person shooter starring the cybernetic cop.
Featuring tough combat, top-notch graphics and Peter Weller in his role as Robocop, the game was well received at launch, but the fact that it only launched last November makes me think it might be too early for a PS Plus Extra release.
Set in 1860s Japan, Like a Dragon Ishin also features heavily on the list. Players control swordsman Sakamoto Ryoma as he travels to Kyoto to find his father’s killer. Along with a compelling story, Like a Dragon Ishin features all the side content and mini-games you’d expect from the series, just not the SEGA arcade games.
Dead Island 2 is another game with a lot of predictions, along with Sonic Frontiers, Forspoken, and Resident Evil Village.
With Resident Evil 2 being the only game in the series to appear on PS Plus Extra, it certainly feels like now is the right time for Village’s debut.
There are also countless predictions for games like Hades, especially as the sequel makes its debut in Early Access on Steam.
Developed by the team behind Bastion and Transistor, Hades is a roguelike action game in which players try to escape the underworld.
“Use the powers and mythical weapons of Olympus to free yourself from the clutches of the god of death himself, growing stronger and learning more of the story with each unique escape attempt,” the official description reads.
“With the support of his extended family – which happens to include Zeus, Athena, and other gods of Olympus – Zagreus’ efforts are aided by temporary buffs (known as Boons) that can be selected to suit your playstyle, as well as permanent upgrades that can be obtained during each playthrough.”
Other games on the list include Cult of the Lamb, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, LEGO Harry Potter, Superheat, Viewfinder, Overcooked, Goat Simulator 3, Valkyrie Elysium, Divinity Original Sin, Madden NFL 24, Powerslaved Exhumed and What the Golf.
We’ll find out for sure when Sony makes the announcement on August 14th.
